Marvel Rivals is the rare licence-driven live service that has enough mechanical identity to stand outside the brand. The third-person camera makes positioning and flanks read differently from Overwatch, Team-Up abilities give compositions a distinctive Marvel twist, and map destruction adds real mid-fight adaptation. The risks are the usual live-service ones: balance churn, skin-led monetisation and a meta that can swing hard after patches. Steam sentiment is still broadly positive overall, but recent reviews around Season 10 are more mixed, so treat it as a strong free PC shooter with active growing pains rather than a solved competitive platform.
