A closer look at Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming
Set in HBO's Westeros, Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming combines castle development, recruited characters and competition. YOOZOO Games develops and publishes it, with YOUZU (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. listed on Steam.
Resource production, construction and research support your military preparation. Commanders develop alongside the city, with their own battle skills. Weirwood supports their progression; the publisher's promotion update documents medals required to raise commander levels.
Alliances give that preparation shared goals through construction and research help, coordinated attacks and territorial competition. Newer alliance modes have their own entry conditions. Finding a group whose activity fits your schedule is a useful early decision.

Your way to play
What you can do

Castle
A stronghold with an economy behind it
Develop production and research while preparing troops. Castle growth connects everyday management to the army you field and the objectives you support.

Alliance
Shared preparation and territorial ambitions
Exchange construction and research help, join coordinated attacks and work toward group objectives. Check each activity's participation rules before planning around it.

Commanders
Develop characters beyond the city walls
Recruit commanders, examine their skills and arrange formations for PvE and PvP. Weirwood encounters give character development a separate focus alongside castle construction.

Getting started
Before your first session
Plan your next castle improvement
Follow the opening quests, then inspect the resources and prerequisites for your next building or research. Choose a concrete upgrade before committing materials elsewhere.
Read skills before investing in commanders
Try the introductory Weirwood encounters and read your recruited commanders' skills. Check promotion requirements before spending medals; older equipment-based guides may describe a superseded system.
Find an alliance with compatible activity hours
Ask when the group organizes attacks and which activities accept newcomers. Request construction or research help when available, and confirm participation requirements before preparing for an event.
Is this for you?
A good fit for players who enjoy incremental city growth, developing recognizable characters and coordinating with a group. Consider how much ongoing alliance participation you want alongside the appeal of the HBO setting.
Things to consider
- Free entry does not guarantee immediate access to every commander or upgrade, a particular progression speed or competitive parity with paying players.
- Shared accounts or progress across browser, Steam and mobile are not established by the checked sources. The Facebook continuation route has specific account and purchase restrictions.
- Steam's old Windows 7 game minimum appears alongside a Windows 10-or-later Steam client caveat. Current browser and GTarcade client requirements were not established, so hardware requirements are omitted.
Good to know
Is this a PC browser game or a Steam release?
Both are documented. The global browser launch announcement and the later Windows Steam release are distinct; neither establishes compatibility with a mobile edition.
Is it free to play?
Yes, with optional purchases. Inspect the current shop and progression systems before deciding whether to spend; no budget or free progression timetable is guaranteed.
What do I manage besides the castle?
Resources, research, troops and recruited commanders support your development. Commander encounters and alliance coordination extend the game beyond upgrading city buildings.
Can I bring my existing account to another version?
Do not assume a transfer between Steam, browser or mobile. Returning Facebook players should follow the official continuation instructions and confirm their existing character before creating another.
Is installing GTarcade mandatory?
The Facebook notice offers the client and a special web login. It does not establish a universal client requirement; that special login also has purchase and order-history limitations.
