Taonga butterflies and botany: two collection projects to understand

Learn what the two activities ask you to maintain before committing resources to a collection goal.

Choose a collection project deliberately

Butterflies and plants add goals beyond the next field harvest. They are worthwhile directions if collection itself appeals to you. Before starting both, choose the one whose routine interests you more and follow its introductory quests. Unlocking a system is not a reason to maximise every part of it immediately.

The butterfly game is a matching activity

The official catching guide explains paired tiles and bonus items. Its important qualification is that a bonus found during a game is claimed with a caught butterfly. Read the completion choice before continuing after a match. Do not assume revealing an attractive bonus guarantees it will leave the mini-game with you.

Use the Flower Nectar walkthrough for the unlock chain

The official island guide links the introductory entomology steps with a visit to the Island of the Flower Nectar. It also identifies the Tropical Pond as a reward that brings butterfly catching to the home island. Follow the current quest chain rather than trying to substitute a generic level recommendation for the actual requirements.

Botany is its own care routine

The Plant Kingdom guide introduces botany tables and plants with different needs. It distinguishes seeds from unique shoots and describes ongoing care for the latter. Read that information before choosing a plant simply for its appearance. A collection goal should fit how often you can return to the farm.

Check the next requirement, not an imagined best specimen

Decide whether you are pursuing a quest, a collection milestone or decoration. Those are different reasons to spend resources. We do not publish a universal butterfly or plant ranking: no current full-dataset reward analysis or testing supports one. A specimen that advances your immediate goal can be more useful than a rarer-looking distraction.

Keep the project manageable

Note the next needed input and the next action to check when you log in. Leave room for the farm’s existing work rather than opening every collection objective at once. The reward is a satisfying second project; if its upkeep feels like another obligation, return to the island story you actually want to finish.
