Gameplay & combat
Both games are real-time action gacha, so on paper they're the closest match here — but they aim at different players. Zenless Zone Zero is pure, stylish character action: fast, cinematic combos, tight parries, dodge-counters and the swap-cancel Chain Attack system, all delivered in bite-sized urban missions with slick presentation and New Eridu's punchy vibe. It's built for players who want combat first, second and third. Arknights: Endfield shares the real-time footing but plays cooler and more tactical. You field a four-operator squad at once, control one while the AI runs the others, and swap to sequence skills off a shared SP pool, with stagger gauges, weak points and boss Interrupts setting the tempo. It's lower-APM and more about squad management than ZZZ's high-flair execution.
The building layer
The defining difference is everything wrapped around the fighting. ZZZ keeps a tight loop — hub, mission, combat, repeat — with its distinctive TV-grid navigation and short sessions ideal for mobile. Endfield adds a full Factorio-lite base builder, the AIC (Automated Industrial Complex): conveyors, power grids, mining nodes and automated production feeding your gear and upgrades, plus open-world exploration to gather from. It genuinely feels like "action game plus factory sim" in one package. That breadth is Endfield's pitch, but it comes at a cost — the AIC tutorial can run for hours and the early hours are far more overwhelming than ZZZ's pick-up-and-play accessibility.
Progression & monetisation
- Zenless Zone Zero: 0.6% for S-rank agents, hard pity 90 with a 50/50, plus a separate W-Engine banner — standard HoYoverse structure.
- Endfield: 0.8% for 6-star operators, soft pity ~65, hard pity 80, 120-pull limited guarantee — nominally friendlier at the top rarity, but a January 2026 launch with an unproven long-term economy.
Which should you play?
Choose Zenless Zone Zero if you want the most immediate, most stylish combat, short mobile-friendly sessions and HoYoverse polish, with no homework between fights. Choose Arknights: Endfield if you'd happily trade some combat flash for tactical squad play and a deep base-building loop that gives you something to optimise for hours. ZZZ is the better pure action game; Endfield is the better fit if "just fighting" eventually leaves you wanting a second system to sink into.
