Building and clearing are separate tasks
Galaxy Gates use a materialiser to build access to encounters. Constructing a gate does not mean that your current fit can finish its waves comfortably. Decide which reward you are pursuing, then look at the relevant encounter before using a pile of saved energy. A completed construction is a future option; it does not require an immediate attempt.
Read the materialiser before using it
The official FAQ describes energy, Uridium, multipliers and a log of results. Check the displayed cost and probability information in the current interface. The useful question is how much you are willing to commit to this goal, rather than how much one more click might produce. Set that limit before a session so an almost-complete gate does not make the decision for you.
Check the specific waves and rewards
Different gates have different enemy sets and rewards. Use the official rewards reference for the gate you intend to clear; do not assume that a reward-day promotion doubles every entry in an older table. Read current event conditions separately. If a reward is chance-based, keep it separate from the items you can rely on receiving after a successful completion.
Prepare a practical run
Review ammunition, your intended configurations and the time you have free. Test the fit against relevant NPCs where possible before committing to an extended encounter. Check whether the gate is a solo or group activity and organise any required partners in advance. Having somebody available in chat is different from having an agreed group ready to enter.
Review a failed attempt usefully
The documented gate system has limited lives, so review the current entry and life rules before starting. If a run goes badly, identify whether the cause was movement, target order, equipment or supplies. Improve that point before rebuilding the same attempt. We do not attach a universal first-gate ranking here: the sensible choice depends on your account and the reward you actually need.
