Wargaming revealed World of Tanks: HEAT on 19 August 2025, around gamescom 2025, describing it as a new take on the franchise that fuses signature tank combat with shooter mechanics. The reveal introduced the hero-shooter framing — elite Agents piloting experimental vehicles — a role system, and plans for cross-platform play.
Set in an alternate post-WWII timeline, HEAT was pitched as a standalone, free-to-play title separate from classic World of Tanks, with no shared progression between the two games.
