Update 2.47 "Leviathans" arrived on 25 June 2025, a major update that expanded naval warfare with new capital ships and added modern surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems to the ground game.
The update reflected War Thunder's ongoing push into modern, missile-era warfare across all three environments — land, air and sea — while continuing to fill out the historical rosters of its ten nations.
"Leviathans" is a useful marker of how far War Thunder has grown: what began as a World War II air-combat game now spans everything from biplanes to guided missiles and battleships.
